The goal of SEO is to achieve higher positions in Google and ensure more exposure, visitors and customers.

And to keep track of those positions, you need a piece of software. In SEO land, we call this a rank tracker. Literally translated to “position holder”.

In this article, I am going to share with you my favourite rank tracker of the moment. That is SERPWatcher from Mangools.

What is SERPWatcher?

As I told you in the introduction, SERPWatcher is a program to track your positions in Google. Besides, I also want to explain the name SERPWatcher because you understand it a lot better.

SERP stands for Search Engine Result Page. In other words, the search results. And watcher, that is someone who watches/keeps an eye on something.

Then you now also know where the name comes from.

Part of Mangools

If you've read a lot of my other blogs, then you know I love KWFinder (/ kwfinder /). In my view, this is one of the best keyword analysis tools on the market.

KWFinder and SERPWatcher are both parts of Mangools. Mangools can therefore be seen as a package of SEO tools that are all very handy to use.

Mangools consists of:

  • The keyword analysis tool (KWFinder)
  • SERP analysis tool (SERPChecker)
  • Tool to track your positions in Google (SERPWatcher)
  • Tool to analyze backlinks/link profile (LinkMiner)
  • Tool to analyze your website (SiteProfiler)

There are different packages within Mangools, but you can already sign up for € 30 per month, which is a bargain when you see what you can do with these tools.

Main functions of SERPWatcher

The main function of SERPWatcher is, of course, keeping track of your positions in Google. Depending on the package you have chosen, they do this based on the number of keywords.

Suppose you have a package with 500 keywords. Then you can keep up to 500 keywords with an unlimited number of websites.

If you manage 50 websites, you can keep an eye on 10 keywords per website.

Track Serpwatcher websites

There are various options and options within the SERPWatcher rank tracker. For example, you can keep track of which positions you are in per country, but you can also find out where you are per device (mobile or desktop).

When you have added a project in SERPWatcher, and your positions are being tracked, you will see the following screen.

rank tracker interface performance index copy

This is the basis of SERPWatcher, and this is where you can find all the information. On the left, you can see what it's all about. Your tracked keyword including:

  • The position
  • The change (rise or fall)
  • Average position
  • Best position
  • Search volume
  • Expected number of visitors per month

If you then look to the right, you will see a performance index. Below you will find the following information:

  • Graph with your performance visualized. This shows how well you are doing (or how much work remains to be done).
  • List of the keywords that have increased and decreased the most.
  • Graph with the expected traffic per day.
  • How many keywords have increased, how many have decreased, and how many have stayed the same.
  • Keyword position breakdown. How many keywords are in 1st place, how many in the top 4, how many are in the top 10, etc.?

This is how you keep track of your keywords.

One of the great advantages of SERPWatcher is that it works so easily, quickly and nicely. You really don't need to have any knowledge of SEO to be able to use the tool.

When you are logged in to SERPWatcher, you will see 'tracking' and 'new tracking' at the top.

With tracking, you can see all projects that you currently have running. Haven't you played anything yet? Then click on 'new tracking'.

Then fill in:

  • The URL of the website you want to track in
  • Which country you are targeting
  • Which platform you want to track (mobile or desktop)
  • Then type or paste your keywords in one of the two options
  • And click on 'start tracking' at the very bottom.

Then wait a day, and your rank tracker will work!

Advantages and disadvantages of SERPWatcher

It is probably already clear to you that I am a fan of SERPWatcher. To make it as clear as possible for you, I have listed the pros and cons of SERPWatcher:

Benefits

  • SERPWatcher works easily and quickly
  • You can add an unlimited number of projects
  • It's affordable (and you get more tools with it)
  • There are many visualisations in the rank trackers
  • You can export everything with the push of a button, and you can add your keyword tags.
  • SERPWatcher does not contain any unnecessary functions
  • You can also click on a keyword to find out more information about that specific keyword
  • Mangools also combines its tools so that you can retrieve your backlinks with the LinkMiner via SERPWatcher, for example, with one press of a button.
  • You can find out the positions per village, province and country.

Then we now continue after the cons. Actually, there are very few.

Cons

  • If you want to keep track of your mobile and desktop positions, you have to create two separate projects.
  • Two separate projects also mean twice as many keywords that you have to measure.

And they already are.

Conclusion

The SERPWatcher is my go-to rank tracker at the moment. For example, I have also put the data from SERPWatcher next to Ahrefs and SEMRush, and the data almost always match.

SERPWatcher is affordable, always works well and is incredibly easy to use. That makes me give SERPWatcher a 9.5.
