Podcasts are the new radio. 46 million Americans over the age of 12 regularly listen to podcasts. The number continues to rise. These people are young, tech-savvy, influential, and well-educated. The boom caught me too. I can no longer imagine how I could develop myself professionally without podcasts. While walking, riding the subway, driving a car, waiting for the tram - I am now listening to podcasts all the time.
In this blog post, I'll reveal the 9 best podcasts for content marketers. Admittedly, not only content marketing podcasts but also inbound marketing podcasts are listed here. Read here what exactly is the difference between content marketing and inbound marketing. I am already looking forward to your feedback. I'm sure there are some that I don't know yet.
PNR with This Old Marketing Podcast
Joe Pulizzi and Robert Rose of the Content Marketing Institute have produced 256 episodes of their humorous podcast on content marketing to date. Why is the podcast called "This Old Marketing"? Because Joe and Robert are convinced that telling stories and retaining customers is perhaps the oldest marketing discipline of all. Joe founded the Content Marketing Institute in 2008 and is considered the inventor of content marketing, or what we now understand by content marketing.
Joe and Robert have a simple format: They comment on the latest content marketing news and pepper the whole thing with "rants and raves." Each time they also bring a content marketing example from days long gone. A new podcast appears roughly every week. The episodes last about an hour.
The Inbound Success Podcast
We have a befriended agency in the USA that also does inbound marketing. Namely the Impact agency in Connecticut. They also have a really great podcast called “Inbound Success” with Kathleen Booth. Kathleen has made it her business in this podcast to find out what successful inbound marketers do to get great results. To answer that, she conducts weekly interviews with marketers who are getting the results many of us work in inbound marketing dream of. From well-known personalities and companies to small companies with unknown names, there are various success stories here.
I think the podcast is great because there is no secrecy about the secrets of success here, but you can actually learn from the stories of others. Lots of practical tips and insights that you can occasionally try out right after the podcast! The weekly episodes last around 45 minutes.
Skill Up
HubSpot's Skill Up Podcast cannot be missing from my favorite content marketing podcasts. Strictly speaking, this podcast is also primarily about inbound marketing. In any case, what it's about: Within 10 to 15 minutes, an expert explains a special topic very briefly and crisply. Due to its short length, it is wonderful to listen to on the way to the subway or even while washing clothes. I can recommend this podcast to all of you who have just started with inbound and content marketing or to all those who want to brush up on their basic knowledge in terms of content. There are already 44 episodes in total.
HubSpot is the global leader in marketing automation software. We use HubSpot ourselves and also for our customers. We are enthusiastic "HubSpotter," as Americans would say. One of my favorite content marketing podcasts is The Growth Show, which unfortunately doesn't appear that regularly.
OMR Podcast
Have you ever heard of online marketing rock stars? This German company deals with everything related to digital marketing. And so also from time to time content marketing. Once a year, there is a conference in Germany, and every week, you have the chance to listen to OMR founder Philipp Westermeyer when he interviews interesting personalities in the podcast.
A wide variety of people are represented here, from marketing managers from well-known companies such as Telekom or L'Oréal to model Lena Gercke and chef Tim Mälzer. Exciting, diverse careers, lots of creative inspiration, and almost always a spin on digital marketing await you here. For example, the founder of Sistrix was recently on the OMR podcast and talked about his SEO tool, possible trends, and developments in search engine optimization. Predicate worth hearing!
The Hubcast
This podcast is for HubSpotter. In other words, people who use HubSpot's marketing automation software. Marcus Sheridan discusses the latest developments at HubSpot with his colleague Carina Duffy.
There is certainly no new HubSpot feature that Marcus and Carina are not the first to comment on and explain down to the last detail.
You'll also learn a lot in this podcast if you're not a HubSpotter. Again and again, Marcus and Carina go into the latest developments in content marketing and inbound marketing. There are now 267 episodes. For me, as a HubSpotter, this podcast is mandatory. I just always need to know what's new at HubSpot.L
Zen Pilot
In my opinion, Zen Pilot should by no means be missing from the best content marketing podcasts. First of all: This podcast is especially interesting for all those who run a marketing agency. Zen Pilot, that's Gray and Andrew, have made it their business to simplify the lives of agency managers. Their podcast “Agency Journey” definitely contributes to this, as they offer practical tips and life-changing instructions. I can really recommend this podcast to you because it helped me decide in which direction I would like to go with the takeoff agency.
LinkedIn Ads Show
If you are doing content marketing or inbound marketing, you will probably not avoid placing ads. If you are interested in LinkedIn, I can warmly recommend the LinkedIn Ads Show. The host AJ Wilcox delivers a deep dive into a specific topic around LinkedIn ads almost every week. From strategies, tips, and platform news, some of which are told directly by LinkedIn product managers in interview form, you can learn a lot here. There are now 44 episodes.
HubSpot
True to the motto “Your weekly Shots of HubSpot Goodness,” Ian Jacob and Craig Bailey present the most important information from the HubSpot cosmos almost every week. This podcast is especially interesting for all of you who already work with inbound marketing and HubSpot. In addition to current inbound trends, you will also be provided with important HubSpot tips and growth tactics. I find it very helpful that the website can listen directly to the most popular podcasts. There are now 232 episodes.
Film School for Marketers
The podcast "Film School for Marketers" was launched by the American agency Impact not so long ago. I can recommend this content marketing podcast to everyone who wants to learn more about the video. Myriah and Zach share their insights into a well-made content strategy for video, production, video culture, 1: 1 video, and much more. With hands-on input, you'll learn how to create videos that generate more traffic, leads, and sales. The last episode so far was released in May 2020; there are a total of 45 episodes.
Conclusion: which content marketing podcasts should you listen to?
I've now revealed my “secret” podcast favorites for content marketing. Some are more for inbound marketing, others more for content marketing, some very briefly, and others quite long. Nonetheless, they are all some of my favorite content marketing podcasts that I recommend to you. By listening regularly, you can not only fill in idle times in a meaningful way but also expand your specialist knowledge in a wide variety of areas again and again.
