If you are a business owner, webmaster or blogger who regularly needs to do SEO research, then Ahrefs is one of the best tools to have. Ahrefs offers an array of features that other services can't provide such as site explorer and rank tracker. In this blog post we will show you how to get a free account with ahrefs so that you can start optimizing your website for search engines.

We will start by showing you how to create an ahrefs account. Then we will show you how to get a free trial ahrefs account. Finally, we will show you how to make sure that you can use free tools offered by ahrefs.

Creating Ahrefs Account

1. First you will need to visit the official Ahrefs website (www.ahrefs.com) and click on sign-up. You will be taken to the signup page where you need to fill in the signup form with your details. At the end of signing up, you will get an email from 'thank you for registering with us.' Don't worry about that email as it doesn't matter and it is just a confirmation mail that tells us that you have signed up an account with us.

2. After signing up, you will need to verify your account. To do that, go to your inbox and open the email sent from 'thank you for registering with us.' Click on the verification link. Once you have verified your account, log in. You can now start using ahrefs.

3. The first thing that you will have to do after logging into the dashboard is verify your account by uploading your business logo or a picture of yourself holding an ID card with today's date and Ahrefs logo on it. You will be asked to verify your account after every 14 days. So it's better to verify it as early as possible.

Getting Free Trial Ahrefs Account with credit card

There is a feature with Ahrefs that allows you to get a free 14-day trial account. But before we can talk about that, we first need to discuss paid and free accounts with ahrefs. Paid accounts are the accounts that cost money and have all the features that ahrefs offers. Whereas free accounts, like any other freemium service, are the free version of paid accounts without all the bells and whistles. Now let's talk about how you can get a free trial ahrefs account.

1. Before you can get a free trial ahrefs account, you need to have a paid account. If you do not have a paid account, then there are three options that you can choose. You can just get trial account starting with $7 for one week.

2. Now that you have decided which of the paid ahrefs plans is best for your business needs, go to the checkout page and click on 'create my Ahrefs account' button. After doing that, check your emails for the confirmation email that will tell you when your free trial has started.

3. Now after receiving the confirmation email from ahrefs about your free trial starting, log in to your account. On the dashboard page, go to the 'Account' page and click 'refresh account'. You will now see a message saying 'your free trial is about to start,' which means you are ready to use ahrefs.

Here we will take you through all of the ways that you can get an ahrefs account for free, and walk you through the process of getting your ahrefs account without a penny.

  1. Free Ahrefs Account Introduction [Cookie-Based Methods

The best way to get a free account with Ahrefs is by using a cookie! We all know that websites use cookies on our computers, and though they are not usually malicious or intrusive, many website owners hide in plain sight within the cookie files on your computer to gather information about you, and then sell it to commercial entities. The following techniques can be used to get an ahrefs account without paying a cent:

Set up a free account on ahrefs.com: Very simple and they will not even ask you to provide any personal information. You can then create your own domain for free and setup your own backlink report online for free! This is the easiest method of getting an Ahrefs account, albeit it is the most basic. Here is how it works:

Step 1: Head over to ahrefs.com and create an account, agreeing to their terms and privacy policy (if you do not understand this, don't do anything further).

Step 2: Once you have completed the above steps, simply go to your account settings and verify your email address. Sign up and create a password for yourself to protect your account.

Step 3: After you have verified your email, head over to your dashboard in the top right corner of ahrefs.com. From here click on "Domain management" and then "Domain verification" to get verification of your domain's ownership. After pressing the button that confirms the details, within a few minutes you will have verification!

Step 4: You should be now able to go back to ahrefs.com and get your backlinks report without paying any money. If you are still not able to get your report, simply go back to the login page and select "My Account" at the top right corner of the screen. From here, click on "Domain management" then "Access your dashboard".

2. Setup a free account on site explorer

If you are looking for a more advanced way to get an Ahrefs account, then setup a free account on Site Explorer. This means you will not be able to access the backlink module in your dashboard. However, after opting in for Site Explorer, you will have the following features available in your Ahrefs dashboard:

You can easily create and manage any domain you want from within your Ahrefs account.

If you have an Ahrefs Corporate Account with access to industry-specific reports and other opportunities, then you can sign up for the premium version of Site Explorer at no extra cost.

Step 1: In order to use Site Explorer, head over to

https://www.siteexplorer.com/signup/AHREFSSITE. Once signed up, you will then have many different tabs available to you:

Step 2: In the first tab you will find "Domain Management". From here, click on "Create a new domain" and fill in your domain name in the following boxes: Host Name , Domain Name and Web Site Hostname.

Step 3: After you have filled out the information for your domain, you will then need to fill in your web hosting information (e.g. cPanel). You can do this by going to the "My Account" tab and from here selecting "Domain Management". Click on the following links to get access to your hosting control panel:

Step 4: From here, you should be able to get an ahrefs account without paying a cent! You will find that in order to perform some of the actions listed earlier, you will not be able to see your Ahrefs dashboard. Instead, it will simply redirect you out of Site Explorer and back into Ahrefs.

3. Use a proxy server to get an ahrefs free trial

This is another popular method of getting an ahrefs account for free. However, we have found that using a proxy server will not work in countries such as India, China, Indonesia, Turkey and many other countries with strict content regulations. It is also important to note that proxies can only be used from the country you are currently residing in.

So let's check out how this method works:

Step 1: First you need to go to a site like https://hidemyass.com/proxy-list/ and then look for proxys that allow you to access Ahrefs.com without paying money for access. You can also use the steps below to find free proxies for your own country.

Step 2: Once you have found a proxy that unblocks Ahrefs, simply open up your browser and go to https://ahrefs.com/ and log in using your email information. Make sure you agree to their terms of service as well as their privacy policy (they are pretty straightforward so don't worry about it!).

Step 3: You should now be able to access your ahrefs dashboard without paying a cent! It's that easy! If you find that after clicking on "Sign Up" you are taken directly back to the login page, then this is usually because the website is not available through that particular proxy server.

4. Get your free ahrefs account from a proxy server or from a different IP address

If you are living in certain countries, such as for instance the Netherlands, Germany, France and the United Kingdom, where access to Ahrefs is unrestricted (no proxy required), then you will be able to get ahrefs account without paying money for it. To do so:

Step 1: Go to https://ahrefs.com/free-trial and sign up with your information.

Step 2: Once you have signed up and received an email with your password, simply log in using the email address which comes with the password sent to you by Ahrefs.

Step 3: You now have a free ahrefs account! Check your ahrefs dashboard and you will be able to see all the features that are available. If you want to access these features from another IP (website) or country, you can do so by clicking on "IP/Location" and then using a proxy service such as http://proxify.com/ or http://hidemyass.com/.

Note: In order to successfully access your ahrefs dashboard from another IP address or country, you will have to use an anonymous proxy server. It is important that the proxy server you are using unblocks Ahrefs as well!

Ahrefs offer a 14-day trial that’s absolutely free, and should be sufficient for most people. Now that you have your free ahrefs trial account, let's talk about how you can use it.

Free Ahrefs account have many tools at your disposal too - from a Web Content Explorer with more than one billion pages collected from all over the web, right through to an Insights tool that calculates your keyword rankings in just seconds! You can also take advantage of our powerful Rank Tracker - optimize any page or get instant alerts whenever your ranking changes. Of course there are many other features available on our website as well.

But sometimes, just knowing just how to use Ahrefs can be as important as actually using it. So, without further ado, here are some quick tips on what to do with each of our tools.

1) Use the Keywords Explorer

Signing up for an Ahrefs account is so much simpler than you might think: all you need is a valid email address. No credit card is required and there are no annoying terms and conditions to wade through. You can sign up in a few seconds, and create your account immediately.

Once you have logged in, you will be able to access the Web Content Explorer. This allows you to see the number of mentions of any given keyword on any given domain or website. You can even click through to each individual page and read the text of the mentioned articles and blog posts. If you were wondering about how your competitors might be discussing certain topics, then it makes sense to take advantage of this tool right away.

2) Use the Site Indexer

The next time you need to check competitors’ sites for any reason, then simply go to the Site Indexer. This is a very useful tool that allows you to do exactly this - sort any site according to various criteria, and notice all the pages that match your search. You can even sort by dates, and view all pages from the last 7 days, 7 weeks or even a month. It’s important to get used to using this tool, because it contains data that can be used in other ways too. You will sometimes find yourself looking at your competitors’ sites from a totally different perspective than you would if you were just reading about them online.

3) Use the Content Explorer

The Content Explorer is another great way to see how your competitors are presenting their content. This is something you can use if you are looking for inspiration for your own articles or blog posts. It can also be useful if you need to find the best keywords to target - after all, it’s much better to use a word that lots of people will write than one that few people will write about! The Content Explorer also contains data about the other sites ranked on pages related to yours. When researching any subject, it’s a good idea to take note of how your competition presents itself.

4) Use the Link Explorer

This is a very useful tool for identifying the type of links you want to get for your business. You can find out more about any given link with just a few clicks, which makes your life a lot simpler. If you cannot find out what you need to know from the Link Explorer, then you’re probably wasting your time trying to pursue certain links!

It’s not only great for identifying good sources of links, but also for seeing where they are located - it helps if yours are all located in the same place! You can see whether they are part of different sites or directories, and also how many incoming links there are to any given site or directory.

5) Use the Traffic Explorer

Speaking of links, the Traffic Explorer will help you figure out whether your competitors are in a position to get them, or whether they are sitting on too much traffic. As such, this is an excellent tool for identifying links that might be useful to you. You can see which pages have links from a given site, and what those pages look like in terms of their On-Page SEO. This will allow you to make decisions about whether the links are worth pursuing further or not! It’s also a great way to determine if your site has good On-Page SEO overall.

6) Use the Keyword Rankings Checker

There’s no doubt that you need to be using the Keyword Rankings Checker on a regular basis. It’s quite simply one of Ahrefs’ most useful tools - it allows you to check rankings for any keyword, and provides an insight into how they have changed over time. You can input up to 500 keywords at a time, which is more than enough for the majority of people! This is also a great tool for making sure that your competitors haven’t suddenly leapfrogged you in terms of their rankings.

If you are looking to optimize your On-Page SEO, then this is also a good tool to use. You can use the checker to find out where your competitors rank, and then copy their strategies. There’s no point trying to do things differently if it turns out that the strategy has worked for others in the past!

7) Use the Organic Traffic Checker

The Organic Traffic Checker is an excellent way to see who is beat you in terms of search engine traffic. You just have to input a single keyword, and the tool will do all of the hard work for you - it will analyze every relevant competitor that you might be interested in. In addition to this, it will also give you important data about how many unique visitors your page has. This is something that the competition will be very interested in - after all, if you have more traffic than them, then they are going to have a problem one way or another!

8) Use the Site Audit Tool

The Site Audit tool is yet another one of Ahrefs’ incredible tools. Any changes that you make to your site with this tool will be immediately updated in the reports that it generates for you. You can then see how they have impacted your site’s performance, and what needs to be changed in order for more good changes to be made!

The Site Audit tool is excellent if you are looking to fix things on your site - but it’s also great for optimization purposes. It will allow you to see how your site is currently being seen by search engines, and what can be done to improve its rankings. Even if there isn’t much that you can do in terms of optimization (especially if you are concerned with usability), it will at least tell you where the problem areas are! This is something that you want to know about before you begin working on your SEO.

9) Use the Web Traffic Tool

The Web Traffic tool is another one of Ahrefs’ tools that is designed to help you with your SEO. It will analyze your current site’s traffic, and will give you all of the information that it can in order to help you understand how it is doing. This includes where to make improvements for your site, and how many unique visitors you are actually getting.

It’s definitely an interesting tool, and one that I find myself using on a regular basis. All of the data that it gives you is important for your site, so you should use this tool whenever you can!

10) Use the Site Explorer Tool

The Site Explorer tool is, in my opinion, one of the best features of Ahrefs. This is partly because of how useful it is when trying to optimize your site. This tool allows you to see every piece of information about your site when you are working on it. For example, it gives you a list of all of your pages with all of their URL variations. So if you have the same page on two different URLs, it will tell you that too. It also gives you all of the keywords that your site is currently ranking for! This is a very powerful tool, and one that I use regularly.

Conclusion

Ahrefs is a powerful tool to help you rank better in search engines and drive more traffic to your site. You may be wondering why you should use Ahrefs and not another service. For one thing, there are a lot of features that make it stand out from other SEO research tools.
