- Not a user but do video marketing. Promo.com prices start at $49/mo ($39/mo annually) so not really exorbitant or an extortion. They offer a pretty decent looking service that offers a lot of features. Any marketing tool / service / agency should be measured by what revenue they can generate, not how much they cost.
- What specifically are you trying to sell? If you are selling $39 widgets then one sale from a video and you break even. To be blunt, the cost of your PPC ad buy to run a one of these videos will make you cry if $49 is too high.
- Used Promo for a client. Cheapest way to get a decent looking video for ads. Remember you're getting stock videos (costly anyway), stock audio (which actually is the limiting part of Promo) and a quick way to put them all together for short video ads. I think it's worth the price. But see if you can find a video/s that fit what you want first. You can sign up, play with it and only decide to pay if you export.
- I don't think that the price is too high for what you're getting - Stock footage (expensive anyway) ready-made video templates and an editor. If you really want to invest in video marketing, that's the way to go if you want to make multiple videos over time. It very simple and easy to work with pricing is awesome, but search is a bit slow (in my case). Missing the "similar videos" function is for better search results.
