What is Redbubble?
If you have not heard of Redbubble yet, then now is no better time to see what this Australian derived company has to offer. Established in 2006 and continuing to rise in popularity, Redbubble is a print on demand online marketplace where artists across the globe can sell their artwork on products for buyers to formulate self-expression.
From t-shirts, hoodies, dresses, and even canvas prints, buyers can find their ideal artwork from a respected seller and customize it on the product they like. Once the order is placed, Redbubble takes it from there, turning the buyer’s vision into a reality that shows up on their doorstep in about three weeks.
How Redbubble Works
It works similar to other print on demand platforms out there. However, it’s a print on demand platform of its own and doesn’t provide any apps or support for other ecommerce platforms like Shopify or WooCommerce, etc.
So, you can not install it on your Shopify store and start selling your custom items through the Shopify store, but you can upload your designs and logos on the Redbubble website and sell it directly from their platform.
Selling the products through their website makes it very easy to manage your entire collection, but it comes with the downside of no branding at all. You don’t get the benefits of branding your own store and making a name and tagline for your brand. You would be one of the thousands of other artists selling their work on Redbubble. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but if you are looking to sell the stuff on your own store under your own branding then Redbubble doesn’t provide that service. You’d be better off with Printful or any other print on demand app for Shopify.
When it comes to working, Redbubble works quite simply. You just sign up for an account, upload your custom designs and logos, put them on your desired products including clothing, and promote the products. Here’s how to sign up for an account on Redbubble.
You get to set the profit margin on each product. Redbubble only charges for the base price of the item and anything extra that you charge goes directly to your wallet. For example, if an item costs $5 (base price) and you sell it for $15 then you make $10 in profits.
Redbubble Products
Redbubble offers a great variety of products and they also ensure the highest standard of quality when it comes to their products. The printing quality is also much better than many of their competitors.
There is a plethora of products to choose from, but here are the categories that are offered on Redbubble. Each category offers hundreds of products and multiple variants. These categories include the following.
- Men’s
- Women’s
- Kids & Babies
- Device Cases
- Stickers
- Wall Art
- Home Decor
- Stationery
- Bags
- Gifts
You can choose as many categories and as many products as you want. Your designs will be printed on each product, however, it’s better to choose different size of images for your designs for different sized products. A design that looks good on a t-shirt may not be as good looking on wall art. So, always keep that in mind when choosing and uploading your designs.
Redbubble Pricing
Redbubble has a very clear pricing policy. All the products that are available on the platform have a base price that is clearly visible to everyone. You get to set your own markup on each item.
You can either set a percentage markup and have it applied to all the categories and products. For example, you can set a 10% markup on all the products that you offer.
Secondly, you can set a markup percentage on a single category, like 10% for clothing, 15% for phone cases, etc. Here’s how to set profit margin on Redbubble.
Last, you can select a number based markup like $10 on all products or a few categories and items. Redbubble only charges your for the base price of the products and everything that you make on top is yours to keep.
Redbubble Payment options
If you are making sales on Redbubble then you definitely want to get paid for all your sales. Luckily, Redbubble has a great payment process. You get paid within each payment cycle that begins from the 15th of a month to the 15th of the next month.
Redbubble offers payments either by direct deposit in a bank account (only available in select countries) and PayPal. Make sure that you add all the details to your account so you don’t run into any problems when getting paid.
