What is SerpStat?
Serpstat is a comprehensive platform for search engine optimization. It is designed to help business improve their performance in major SEO areas, specifically marketing, search analytics, content marketing, PPC, and more. With Serpstat, you know who is ranking well in search engine result pages (SERPs) and how you can beat the competition.
Using Serpstat’s analytics system, you are able to determine how your competitors achieve success in the SERPs rankings by gaining the most recent information and business intelligence on their promotion spending. You can also delve into the keywords they are using for their campaigns. With all information in your hands, you can devise and execute effective SEO campaigns, leave your competitors behind and drive your business towards success.
SerpStat Pro Features Overview
Serpstat’s features are divided into five main categories: website analysis, keyword research, backlink analysis, rank tracking, and site audits. Most of Serpstat’s analytics data is derived from Google, but results for Russian markets rely on Yandex.
SerpStat Website Analysis
Website analysis is at the heart of Serpstat. When you type in a URL, the platform will automatically turn up competitors, show the positioning for top associated keywords, and offer a tree view of all the keywords associated with the site. It’s also simple to view search engine visibility and track how that’s changed over time.
What’s particularly nice about website analysis in Serpstat is that it makes multi-domain comparisons simple. You can select top competitors from the pre-populated list and quickly see what keywords you have in common and the cost of those keywords for advertising. Even better, you can see the exact search engine ads competitors are running and which keywords they’re using. That makes it simple to identify opportunities and gaps in your own marketing strategy.
SerpStat Keyword Research
Researching keywords with Serpstat is also straightforward. Enter any keyword, and the platform will return thousands of related keywords ranked by search volume. Helpfully, there’s a “Difficulty” score that gives you an idea of how hard it would be for a website to rank in the top 10 results in a country’s search market for each keyword.
You can also conduct pay-per-click research around keywords just like you can for domains. Serpstat will display a list of all Google or Yandex ads using a keyword along with the cost per click.
Finally, Serpstat offers a very useful content marketing tool that breaks down how users are actually searching for specific keywords. This is an extremely important feature for understanding the audience around a keyword.
SerpStat Rank Tracking
The rank tracker is arguably Serpstat’s best feature. For any domain, it will automatically pull up the top keywords and show you a table of how the target website is ranking for those phrases on a day-by-day basis. That allows you to see immediately when a competitor is slipping on a particular keyword, which could be the trigger for creating a new ad campaign around that search.
Another nice feature within the rank tracker is the traffic share tool. This shows you, in a simple bar graph, the percent of web traffic that popular domains are receiving around a specific keyword. This is actually easier to use than the keyword analysis tools for figuring out exactly which websites you’re competing against for all of your top keywords.
SerpStat Backlink Analysis
The backlink analysis tool within Serpstat is simple but effective. At a glance, you can see how many domains are pointing back to your site and whether you’ve net gained or lost backlinks over the past week. You can also see which domains and individual URLs are referring to your website, as well as the anchor text that’s most commonly being used with your backlinks.
Where the rubber meets the road on this tool is in analyzing competitors’ backlinks. Since Serpstat shows you lost referrals, you can quickly identify when a competitor has lost backlinks from a particular website. That offers a chance to reach out and establish your own new referrals in what was formerly a competitor’s turf.
SerpStat Site Audits
The Serpstat site audit tool helps you identify issues on your site such as broken links, missing meta tags, and less than optimal search engine indexing. However, the tool primarily repackages data from Google PageSpeed Insights. There’s nothing unique or exciting, so this feature of Serpstat is a little bit underwhelming.
SerpStat Tool
And finally, we arrive at Tools which is a section where you can view the history of your queries on Serpstat. You can also view and export the saved lists of keywords and reports, upload and check for quality a list of your keywords.
Depending on your plan, you’ll be able to add a list of projects to the Serpstat dashboard. This is where you can access data such as site audit, rank tracking, backlinks data, keywords data, etc.

Let see reviews from member who used SerpStat
- I use SerpStat and constantly wish I had access to ahrefs or SEMrush instead. It's "okay" and "does the job" but there does not seem to be much development going on to add new features. You will always have to take these tools with a pinch of salt and everyone will have their favorite, but for basic "what is my competitor ranking for" and backlink tracking, it is ok. Probably not as good as ahrefs or SEMrush (or even Moz... ::ugh! wash my mouth out!::) but for $39 it's a good buy.
- We use SerpStat mainly for backlink monitoring. I guarantee their backlink index isn’t nearly as strong as SEMrush or Ahrefs, but we have had zero problems and it’s backlink index seems fairly strong and it’s consistent. We too use the $39/lifetime deal, couldn’t pass it up - at that price, it’s a no brained and great tool. I would, in fact, be willing to pay more and monthly to use it too.
- I have it. Bought that same AppSumo deal. Since it was cheap, I bought it myself to try it out for my company. For what I need it for, its about as good as SEMRush but highly out-shadowed by Ahrefs. For what you say you need it for, I would say it could get the job done. Its only $40 bucks so if you later think you need to upgrade to a better tool, its not a big loss. Go for it and see if it works for you.
- It's a 100 year licence worth a total of $24,000 for just $40. Even if you use one feature its a real bargain and perfect for any small business. Heck if your an agency get an account per client. They keyword monitoring is a little off compared to other tools we use. But backlink research and monitoring is pretty good.
- Use Ahrefs and Majestic and got Serpstat on the latest AppSumo deal. Side-by-side it isn't too far off the competition. Very impressed and it'll only get better.
- It's a good solution which has the bare essentials (auditor, keyword suggestions, rank tracker, link checker). Great for the price you're paying.
- Serpstat is a great tool, been using it for more than a year now. It's pretty keyword research/competitor research based, so don't expect much on the on-page department. But, it's great for the money. One downside is the very poor UX, and it sometimes is very slow.
- It is a complete SEO tool. But I would like you to recommend Serpstat for keyword research. It is a smart and powerful tool for, backlink analysis, ranktracking, Keyword Research , competitor analysis, site audit. And yes, it's a good keyword search tool.
- I just bought serpstat. I was incredibly disappointed I missed that promo, I absolutely love it and I've never experienced better customer service; that being said, tricking you into trying trying a better plan for $1 which auto cancels your fucking LIFETIME subscription is INCREDIBLY sheisty, and while I completely believe you I find it completely unbelievable their customer service won't help you given how amazing they have appeared to be for me.
- Ultimately all depends on what you need from the tool. Only thing specific you mentioned was KW finder. Serpstat is cool but definitely out classed by the other services. Good budget/starter service IMO tho (was $40 on an AppSumo deal so might want to keep an eye out if it comes back).
Final Verdict
Serpstat is a solid tool that can be a more cost-effective alternative to some of the industry heavyweights such as SEMrush and Ahrefs.
The Website Analysis and Keyword Research tools are particularly strong, and its proprietary Clustering Tool and Text Analytics add a different dimension to planning and creating your content.
Serpstat is certainly worth a trial if you are looking for a lower cost tool that can still provide actionable insights and help improve your SEO and PPC campaign performance.
