1. What is the definition of social bookmarking

Social bookmarking is a strategy to help you create and share links, as well as keep track of them. It can be helpful for seo purposes because it increases your online visibility by linking back to your site. Social bookmarking services typically allow users to tag their favorite links with keywords or phrases, so they can later review and browse their "social bookmarks" at a time and place convenient for them. With social bookmarking sites like Delicious or Diigo, you can "tag" the URLs with keywords that are relevant to what they're about so when people search for those terms on Google, they'll find your page. These sites also give you analytics tools so you know who's viewing your blog posts and which ones are being shared most often on social media networks such as Facebook or Twitter. This way, if something isn't popular enough among readers, then maybe it needs a little tweaking before publishing again. 

This blog post will explain what social bookmarking is, how it works, and some of the popular services that are available. 

2. How can I use social bookmarking sites to save and share my favorite websites

The answer to this question is not easy, since there are many definitions of social bookmarking sites. There is social bookmarking, which is similar to a regular book mark. Social bookmarkers usually coordinate with friends and colleagues to organise all of the links they find throughout the internet. Then there are sites like Digg and Reddit that have communities designing for specific topics where users vote on which site content should be the best. Reddit also uses upvotes and downvotes when submitting links so that other users will decide if this site will be saved or not rather than simply being shared as a mere link. The question really is: How do you use social bookmarking sites to save and share your favorite websites and blog posts? Here are some of the ways.

1. Save only certain links for a certain amount of time. This can be on Flickr or Digg, depending on the site you want to use, so that your document will always be saved and shared with people you trust later on. You could also do something like this through Twitter, but it would happen only when you want it to. You can also make a specific folder in your hard disk where all your favorite links go, so that later on you can easily find them again.

2. Save links from your favorite websites and blog posts. Save each one on a site that has a "save" function like Digg or Reddit, or on one of the many other social bookmarking sites such as Delicious and StumbleUpon, but don't make them public yet.

3. Share your links with the specific users you think will appreciate them the most rather than just posting it to Twitter or Facebook. Posting to your Facebook friends may feel like a good way to share something, but on Facebook you usually do not have that much control over who sees what you post. On Reddit, Digg and other social bookmarking sites you control exactly which users can save your links and which ones cannot.

4. A great way to make sure everyone saves your links is to join Reddit.com and subscribe to the subreddits that are most relevant to you and your interests. By subscribing to a subreddit, you will be able to see a live stream of all of the submissions users have made as well as a list of the newest submissions that will be appearing soon. If you follow enough users who submit links you like, you can always see something new that they have saved on your option or add it yourself!

5. Join Twitter and start following interesting people! When doing this, make sure they also follow back in order for them to receive your tweets via email.

6. Enter links in comment sections instead of making them public. This will ensure that you and the few friends you have who use social bookmarking sites will always know where to find them. Make sure that you only enter your links in comment sections on blogs or websites where you already know the blogger, so that only people who really care about it will see it!

7. Join Flickr boards for your favorite photos and websites for your favorite articles. This way, not only people who follow you on Twitter and Twitter friends can see these links, but also strangers who are interested in the photo or website can see them as well because they are part of the boards' description.

8. Use browser extensions for your favorite blogging websites. Search for browser extensions that will allow you to save articles from a specific website and then re-publish them at a later time.

9. Make note of sites where you have saved links and simply add the new ones later on the same website whenever they appear. This works best if the site is still online, but free hosting sites usually expire links soon after they are saved, so this practice might not always work very well.

10. Find a great site that will automatically "bookmark" the links you want to keep. There are many sites where you just input a specific URL and the site looks it up on other sites and adds them, without asking you if they are okay with being saved or not. If they do not use an automated system, then enter them manually and save them on your own social bookmarking account.

11. Read good blogs and then make notes of their useful articles so you can later add them to your own blog for anyone to read! Many bloggers include links to other resources in their posts so that people can learn more about the topic and do further research if they want.

12. Use a simple bookmarking service to save all the sites you like. I use Xmarks (xmarks.com), but there are many others. In Xmarks, I can save all links for free within my limit of 10,000 links per account and then later on share them with friends or save them on a file stored in my hard disk for future use. You can also choose to display your bookmarks in the sidebar of your browser, or put them in the tab bar if you want to keep them out of sight for your friends.

13. Don't worry if your links do not save! I am confident that your links will eventually get saved out there if you take the time to put them out there and create an account on any of the sites you are using just to save your links. Remember that the real goal is to create cool links that others will want, not to worry about whether or not you have 100 followers on Twitter or 15 friends who subscribe to Reddit.

14. Use a service like Post Planner (postplanner.com) which tells you exactly when and where all of your social media posts will appear online so that you can also make sure they reach as many people as possible!

15. Create an account on Digg in your name and promote your links there. If you know how to use Digg well, then this can be a good time saver as it will automatically repost any link you submit.

16. Remember that if you create an account for a social bookmarking site and put up only one link for a page, that the new social bookmarking engine is going to have a difficult time tracking your links unless they are all from the same page!

18. Use the Tumblr app to make a special blog for your links and then post them to your Tumblr account! It is easy to search for links by blog, so you do not need to do any extra work. There are also many people who follow blogs on Tumblr and will want to learn about your other interesting posts as well.

19. You can also put up the link on an older site like Delicious or use a service like Diigo Bookmarking (diigo.com) which allows you to put them up on any site you choose using a simple bookmarklet that is good for all browsers. Make sure that the links don't expire when they are posted online, though!

20. Google's "Anchor Text" feature is a great way to create links that will stay on the page for a long time (even if people remove the text from your links). I recommend using it on any site that should have content that is updated often. The same goes for Yahoo! News.

21. You can also use a service like bit.ly when you post links to make them easier to track. You can even use it if you are posting a video on YouTube and want people to know exactly where they can see the video that was posted online!

Social Bookmarking Keeps Content Fresh:

One of the biggest advantages that social bookmarking profiles have over other types of posts is that they keep your content fresh. There are hundreds of thousands of websites that use the social bookmarking service bookmarkmarks.net and you can set it up so that whenever you post a new article to your site or blog, the only people who see your post are those who "follow" you on bookmarkmarks.net. This keeps your content up-to-date very quickly and doesn't make sure that someone who removed their account gets to see it.

22. There are other services for this that have additional features as well such as socialxposure.com (which lets you email people links to interesting posts) and del.icio.us (which is similar). You can also register on socialbookmarkingdirectory.com and bookmarkingclub.com for more sites.

23. If you don't want to use a service like this or any of the others, there's no problem with that at all. You can manually create your links, but you may want to consider using a service if you post a lot or are dependent on having current links available immediately to people who've clicked them on bookmarkmarks.net and are interested in your content.

24. Take a look at the URL after the "http://" (whether before that it's just "www.website.com" or not). You will find a string of numbers and letters, and the beginning of it will be the most important part. This is called the "anchor text", and it is what other users see when they visit the link you posted. Sometimes bookmarks are created automatically, but if you create them manually you might as well take some extra time to write down a meaningful anchor text for people to click on and see your content!

25. Once you've found this string of letters and numbers, try posting it in Google search to make sure that it's unique enough to not show up with a bunch of other irrelevant links when people look at what's been bookmarked about your website or blog post. If you find that it's been posted before (and by someone else) then you can change it to something different, but don't make it too long! Making it just a few short words is a good idea, because Google won't list long anchors in its results.

26. If you don't want to include your own content in social bookmarks, then try posting other people's blog posts and articles on social bookmarking sites like Reddit and Digg. Be careful about what you post, because if the content is adult-oriented or has words like "free" or "download" in them, they will not appear on engines like Google or Yahoo! You can still post them to other places though.

27. Consider including your own content on Google and Yahoo! Search. These search engines index a lot of the "web 2.0" sites so that you can get backlinks to your site through keywords that are very relevant to your site's content. You should also try to avoid posting too much of this text, though, because when you use more than just a few words or phrases, people will know that they have been copied from other articles or sources online and it will look like spam when people search for it (this is called "clumping" – more on this below).

1) Delicious: One of the most popular social bookmarking sites on the internet, delicious boasts over 17 million registered users who have shared over 40 billion links. 2) StumbleUpon: StumbleUpon is an interesting social bookmarking site because it is geared towards the discovery of content that you may not know about. In essence, people tend to stumble upon new content as they browse the web. Stumbleupon allows users to nominate content they have browsed and like in order to recommend it to others on the site. The site also has a mobile version available on iOS devices. The site's tagline is "Find cool stuff you'll love. Stumble it."

3) Reddit: reddit is a social news website where users submit links to interesting articles or discussions about other web content. Other users can then either upvote or downvote the submissions as desired. The best content rises to the top of the list on the site, and only registered users can submit a link that will be voted upon by other members of the site. The site also has an iOS app available for download. It's tag line is "The front page of tbe Internet".

4) Diigo: Like StumbleUpon, Diigo is a social bookmarking website focused on discovering new information that you may not have been aware of before. Users are encouraged to find websites that they think are really good, and submit those pages to the site so that other members may find them. 5) Digg: Digg is a social bookmarking site similar to Reddit in its general structure. Users can submit links that they feel are interesting, and other users vote on the best content submitted. The difference between the two websites is the focus of submissions on each website: Reddit allows any link to be submitted and voted upon, whereas Digg focuses solely on technology news related links. The site is an example of how social bookmarking can be used to discover lesser-known content that might be relevant to the general population.

6) Facebook: Facebook is a social networking site that allows registered users to create and manage their own public pages on the site. 50) LinkedIn Answers: LinkedIn Answers is an open forum where users can ask questions about topics and then have them answered by experts in their field. Users can read through articles, share articles with others who are connected to them and tag important stories for later use on other sites as well. 53) Six Apart: Six Apart is a web publishing company that created blogging software for web sites. The site allows users to create blogs, in which they can share content on topics like personal experience or anything that they are passionate about. Users can connect with other bloggers and friends through the platform, as well as view trending topics from around the world in their feeds on the homepage.

54) GitHub: Github is an online hosting service for software projects where users can host their development of code on their own devices, as well as share and collaborate with other developers as well.
